This was in an older version of Sailfish, where all Android applications ran in a single cover. An update changed this behaviour so every Android application has its own cover, which makes that button redundant, and as such it has been removed.

They removed it at a system update. Now every app runs separately.

it never was "recent app button", lol, it was android multitasking, which was replaced by real sailfishos multitasking with individual app covers for each running android application.

except when you trigger a new application within the app, for example, launching a new app from android app store. then you get 1 cover instead of 2.

editted the build.prop, can be found in /opt/alien/system/build.prop

or something along those lines. there you can also disable the entire android UI, although that removes the back button thats clearly needed unless the app is based around not needing it
