I am developing a standalone Windows application that allows you to dial any number from any phone using your Google GrandCentral Account. If you are interested, please download the latest copy from my site.

I would appreciate feedback, digg and/or stumble support. Thanks!

Might I recommend being careful with that name, it might cause some confusion in the community. There is a PyGTK program w/optional Hildon support that was called "Grand Central Dialer" but has recently been renamed DialCentral to avoid direct use of trademarked names. You can find the latest thread here
http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=23357
and the Garage page here:
https://garage.maemo.org/projects/gc-dialer/

Features supported include
* Dial pad
* Custom callback
* Grand Central Contacts
* Evolution Contacts
* Recent Calls
* Being PyGTK based, it works on Linux (tested on Ubuntu and Maemo) and theoretically Windows and even MacOS X?
* More?

Good luck with yours, hopefully we can all gain ideas from each other.

ps I believe I also saw on LifeHacker another Grand Central app, but that was iPhone specific.

Thanks for the heads up. I just got all the login stuff working so next is adding tons more features. I'm also going to fork a Windows Mobile version once address book support is added.

Sure will be sad to see them open up an API. All this work will be for nothing.

Well, at the rate they are going (publicly) I definitely wouldn't want to be waiting for a public API. Hopefully what we've done (URLs/regexes/etc) )will be able to make it quicker for you to get contacts/recent calls.

With all due respect, this announcement of a WINDOWS application doesn't belong here. At best, it belongs in the off-topic category. Unless there's a tie-in to ITs ... please put it somewhere else.

Besides this having no connection to NIT, I d/l and tried it out. A very basic version at this point, but it has potential. Since you are getting better feedback in the google groups section, I doubt you'll need much input from this community.

My only problem is the requirement of Framework 3.5, which I have no reason to install but for running this app. I also could not figure out how to switch the number to dial and there are no menus or config options available.

Personally, I wish there could be just a plugin added to Gizmo or an upgrade to the Firefox plugin (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8294) instead of running a standalone app. But that's just me, good luck with this as I'm sure non-tablet users will appreciate it.
