What is wrong with the App Manager, its incredibly slow (not just today). I seem to be forever waiting for it to refresh the application catalogues.

What is wrong - is it the App Manager servers that are slow? Why are the catalogues constantly refreshed. In addition after installing an application why is it necessary to press the screen to dismiss the yellow bar...and then have to wait for the application list to refresh? Why doesnt the manager refresh behind the yellow bar, wheres the thinking behind this annoying 'feature'?

The application manager really needs a looking at. Its these small details that separate other phone OS's and Nokia's - Nokia never seem to pay attention to user detail imo.

PS This is based on my experience of the App manager before and after PR1.1

It's probably nothing to do with the manager or N900 themselves.

If you change the servers in the app manager to non-Nokia ones the manager runs at full speed. That means the problem probably isn't in the manager, but in the servers.

The Nokia servers probably need looking at (or more probably their cacheing system does).

If anyone has this problem please vote for it in Bugzilla:

if it isnt, and that's the way the server is going to be, the app manager needs to be modified to deal with this (ie less refreshing).
