Hi!

I just finished the first version of EPUBReader which supports Firefox Mobile on the N900/N810 and searching for people who would like to test it.

EPUBReader is a free Firefox add-on which lets you read ePub-files directly in Firefox. You find here more information http://www.epubread.com/mobile/.

EPUBReader for PC exists already for a while, new is the mobile version for the N900/N810. So I would be very happy if you try it and give me feedback .

Here are the details for the installation:
  • Firefox Mobile 1.0 needs to be installed first. You can install it from here.
  • Install the EPUBReader add-on from here.
  • Here you find the manual.

Please send your feedback to my mailaddress which you find here.

Many thanks in advance!
Michael

Hm, good question . I have to check this. Do you know where I can get more information about the build-in browser?

I don't.... but AdBlock runs on it, so it must be possible in some way...

Okay, I found this information about MicroB:
"In place of Mozilla's XUL-based user interface, MicroB uses the Maemo-native (GTK-based) Hildon API and widgets."

So unfortunately EPUBReader doesn't work with MicroB because it makes heavy use of XUL for the frontend. AdBlock doesn't have a frontend itself, that's the reason why it works with MircoB.

Hi Michael.

I'll test your ePub-reader on my N900.

The installation went smooth and after a restart of FireFox I could onpen a epub-ebook.

Is there anything special I should look for?
Where should I post the reports?

Max

Hi Max, great, thanks for testing!

Okay, here are the things I couldn't test very well on my PC, so it would be good if you could check them especially:
  • Works paging well (tap on top/bottom)
  • Is the table of contents usable (are the single elements large enough)
  • Are buttons and other elements large enough

You could send the reports to my mailaddress which you find here: http://www.epubread.com/contact.php or just post it here.

Thanks,
Michael
