Introducing Dexter - a Teletext/Text-TV reader app that you can keep up with the news/sports/etc easily. It is made with Qt 4.6.

EDIT: Dexter is in Extras-Devel now, please get the latest version from there.

Main features:
  • On screen buttons for fast and easy navigation
  • Full screen mode in landscape (tap the image)
  • Portrait mode support for one hand operation
  • Predicting the next/previous page (for example if you are at page 123 and the next one is 146, if you press next, it will go to 146 instead of trying to load 124 in vain)
  • Ability to configure different services through config file
  • Switch between different services in the app

installed the deb but nothing starts after clicking the dexter icon. any other packages needed to be installed first?

mrp: qt 4.6 so in xterm "apt get install libqt4-maemo5* should do it. I guess it is not pulling the dependencies right..

And notice that qt 4.6 is in extras-devel repositories.

If you need to specify the ones that you need, go with these:

libqt4-maemo5-core
libqt4-maemo5-gui
libqt4-maemo5-network
libqt4-maemo5-dbus
libqt4-maemo5-maemo5

That should cover it maemo5* seems to take even the devel packages are not for the device.

And as someone mentioned, Qt 4.6 is in the extras-devel and my app is not even there, so have adventurous mind and don't come complaining that I have bricked your device Hope this helps.

This looks like a great application to me. I would like to have it so I can access dutch teletekst pages.

Italian public television RAI has a very good text-tv service. It is accessible from the Web. Here I attach a very simple Web page to access it with basic controls. I hope it will be useful for Dexter.

The URL scheme is a bit strange as the use
http://teletext.orf.at/400/461_0001.htm
instead of
http://teletext.orf.at/461_0001.htm

Anyway, it's complete, up to date and I even bookmarked some of its pages on my N900. It's very cool how the put much information in just a few characters/line.
