I've been working on a Google Reader App for the N9 written in QML/Javascript.

It still has rough edges but I use it for my day-to-day feed-reading at this stage.

The program can be downloaded from the (incredibly rudimentary) website:
http://www.coralbark.net/grrok/

And the source (GPL v2+) is available on git hub:
https://github.com/jonquark/grrok

Feedback welcome (once it's much more polished I'll put it in the Ovi Store (for free) or apps.formeego.org).

Screenshots:

Features:
* Easy to use interface (choose categories/feeds/entries from the list or keep pressing the "down" button which moves from entry to entry, marking them read

* Mark Entries Read/Unread or mark whole feed read

* Open the current entry in a browser

TODO:

* Doesn't handle edit token expiry - 30mins after loading the app, you can no longer change any state on Google's servers (e.g. mark an entry feed)

* [Fixed in v0.1.1] (Older version: Doesn't handle feed continutations so can only download the first 20 items in a feed).

* Text sometimes overflows the container for it (I'm struggling with Text clipping and elliding).

* Mark entry starred

* Better error handling/testing

First of all, Thank you.

some suggestions: As it's WIP it would be nice to update thread name with version.
Also can you please add screenshots and features it supports, and in TODO in first post.

P.S. and on site link to the thread and not to main talks page, so people would post in this thread and not make m\new ones =)

ZogG: When I wrote the page, I hadn't created the page yet The page is now updated. As for features/TODO/screenshots, I'll add more details soon. I'm just linking everything up so github/website/thread all link to each other.

Really Good work. Will try and let you know the feedback.

Also, there's a shared repository of harmattan apps on github. If you are interested to add your username to the shared repository, Please post at
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=84333

I can do that for you with your permission

This worked fairly well for me. A few times I stopped being able to mark all as read, but closing and reopeningthe program got back that ability. Also, some groups with a large number of news items (approaching 1000) acted strangely like I couldn't mark them as read or they didn't display all the items. But I liked the program and will continue to use it.

Looks good, if you need help with the OAuth stuff on your TODO list take a look at my google app in progress also on github - feel free to copy bits from https://github.com/jkingok/harmattan...l/MainPage.qml.

Thanks for the replies...

@et3rnal - I wrote it because I wanted to use it (after trying out other Goolge Readers I could find). I'm sure some of the apps on that list would be useful but I'm unlikely to write them. (I write code for a living, the only way I'm going to do it in my spare-time is if it's something I personally really want/need),

@geneven: Thanks for the feedback from actual usage - I hope that the problems you were seeing are both on the todo list (edit token expiry after 30 mins) and not downloading all the items in a large feed (feed continuations in the Google API).

@jkingok: Thanks, if I get stuck I'll take a look.

I've updated the first post to say that I've made a small update release: grrok v0.1.1

The only new feature is that you can now get more items for a feed. By default Google only gives you 20 items for a feed, now if you want to see more you can choose "get more items".
