The Following 6 Users Say Thank You to vasavrs For This Useful Post: | ||
I have only had my device for about 2 weeks and I recently noticed a strange issue with the screen:
There is a tiny spot that is seen when the display is showing brighter colors and when the device is tilted, it is hardly visible if I look at the screen straight on, so it's almost like gaming on a Nintendo 4ds where you have to look at the screen in a precise angle to enjoy the 3d-effect.
The spot is most visible if I have a white background, for example a Google search on the screen and then tilt the device left or right so that the viewing angle fades the screen but not that spot.
I have never seen anything like this and it does not look like a dead or aways on pixel (is that what is called a bright pixel? One that is always on?).
I also found this post in the N900 forum, is this what I am experiencing with my Jolla?:

Perhaps is is badly assembled and something is pressing against the screen?
Hmm, it seems it is not the same issue as described there, not if I look at the photo in this post, my spot is invisible on black parts:

Should I bother sending it back for repair? Perhaps I will just get another bad screen or some repair-guy might scratch the phone in some way, it has always been the case when I send stuff for repair, scratches and worse.
I take good care of my devices and It has not been dropped or anything.
How does the warranty work if I notice something like this so early on? Is it possible to get a replacement right away? Any experiences?
I also have to confess that I have not yet taken off the protective film from the screen (that came with the phone) since when I apply a new screen protector I always get dust and bubbles under it, and this one sits perfectly. So I'm also thinking that IF it is the plastic film that somehow makes this spot appear it might as well have been dust showing on another screen protector which would be just as irritating.
What is your advice? Should contact Jolla right away or live with it until something else shows up under the warranty period?
My only other phone that had 3G capability just had the Sim slot damaged so I have no replacement phone when sending it of for repair, at least not with that number. So there is that too=/
Other than that the only issue is the volume rocker is a bit loose and made a rattling sound when shaking the phone, I had the same problem with my nokia lumia 800 (wish I had chosen a n9 instead) since we where left behind by M$, stuck with 7.5 when WP 8 was released 6 months later. At least the volume rocker was easily fixed on the Jolla with a little MacGuver spirit and a piece of paper.
Lesson learned: I guess Finnish design isn't all that great of it is made in China.
So, is anyone else experiencing these bright dots on their Jolla Phone?
What is it?
What can be done about it?
