Silverlight is way better is every measurable fashion than the hot tranny mess that is adobe flash. Performance being the most important of which.

Its in fact the same in almost every way... Including performance. Its slow (maybe SL4 is a little faster than Flash 10), steals focus, packaged, can't be indexed by search engines. And we don't actually know how fast each will be when hardware accelerated in ARM Linux...

My problem is if Silverlight appears in MeeGo it will be Microsoft's implementation and this will probably mean closed-source and possibly a restrictive license.

Wouldn't it make sense to use Moonlight? At least the source code is available and no restrictive license too.

MeeGo is an open platform. The last thing we need is to start polluting it with proprietory solutions.

I think you could use also Moonlight since the platform is so open. But Moonlight doesn't support DRM like Laughing Man said. I wonder why there isn't similar vector based solution which is open source? Vectors are nice for many things. Especially mobile users would benefit from vectors because of scalability. Yes, there is SVG but Flash and Silverlight offer more.

Again, Silverlight will not appear in MeeGo.

Hardware vendors may choose to include it when they create their device images and make it available on the device when sold, but Silverlight will not be a part of MeeGo proper.

On my Dell Mini 1012 Silverlight performs 100x better than Flash. Besides Meego needs Silverlight, else no one can watch Netflix Instant, and thus move people away from the platform, including me We need Silverlight (Netflix)!

No Flash, No Silverlight. I think nothing will make anybody fully happy. But as it stands, if I can turn it on, turn it off, remove it and (most importantly) update it, I'm for it.

Even soon to be ignored Ogg Theora. Give me options.
