I honestly thought I had another one of those silly extensions installed that change certain buzzwords to make reading tech articles more interesting.

Now you have me wondering, what using this kind of extensions AND losing track of them does to a person's perception of the world and his knowledge/state of mind.

Just imagine a student of meteorology unknowingly using this cloud2butt extension (and probably some others), years later becoming a weather reporter on a TV channel!

I've had cloud2butt (as you can see, it also changed cloud to butt in your quoted post) installed for a couple of years now, and I can safely say I no longer know whether it's supposed to say 'cloud' when I see 'butt'. Often I think it's supposed to be 'cloud', and it turns out it was actually 'butt' all along. 'The weather is butty today' has become a perfectly normal phrase, and 'ButtFlare' is the company I see every time a website is down. I'm not the only one, apparently.

You got it backwards!

You're the one having a problem and wanting it fixed. So it's your obligation to pay attention to what people ask of you and answer all their questions as precisely as possible - because they pose them for good reasons.
So far you're not doing this, which is why this thread is going nowhere.

For example, you've been asked which repos you use (because it is suspected, that you accidentaly use N9 repos). A precise answer would be to quote the strings from your package manager of choice - to the letter(!).
I suggest you re-read the whole thread from the point of your first post, scan for any questions directed at you and think very thoroughly about how to answer every single one of them as precisely as possible.

EXACTLY what I was going to say.

To add to it...
Want it fixed el cid?
Here is an answer.

For starters..
To eliminate all possible problems from the very beginning that could be "human error"...

Download and reflash your n900 back to square one...
with the PROPER version...

If you are having issues ...STILL...after a complete reinstall ...
THEN ...BEFORE you install ANYTHING ELSE...
Come and state the issues involved and it will be easier to discount human error....and thus focus on other potential culprits of the issues you are having.

If you are having no issues after your reinstall of the os on your n900...
Then make sure whatsoever you install afterwards ...
is MEANT for THAT version.

Then go back to the wikis and threads and study....study ....study..
And until you are CERTAIN that you know what you are doing and the possible issues you could encounter ...
DON'T muck with your functioning n900

As well...
This is a "community" ...
we aren't "Geek Squad" here...
We aren't paid to help a soul...
We bother to help people because we are troubled troubled troubled individuals who have serious masochistic issues...and probably even more deeply rooted problems...

Expect us to deviate from topic in a thread...
For most of us it helps us focus ON the topic...
(sort of like ...forgetting about the issue to find the answer...like hunting for lost car keys...if you stop looking for them...you find them ...eh? )

And expect us to use humour..
No one will come to a thread and reply to anything if we can't use humour ...

and lastly...
Don't get your knickers in a knot man...
A complete and PROPER reflash will have most...if not all your issues resolved...

And I suggest you get a couple of inspirational posters for your office...

a "hang in there kitty" poster ...

and a Deadpool poster

Maximum effort baby!

Can't ever go wrong with those two...
The kitten and Deadpool ...just work.

None of those repos is the source of your wmctrl package.
