If they are not in the user/* section, and thus not viewable in the application manager, you can use:

Code:
apt-get remove <package>
Or.

Code:
dpkg -r <package>
If you are unsure of the exact unix name, you can use:

Code:
apt-cache search <keywords>
to find it.

Only enter the command itself, not the linebreak after also, if you copy and paste

In the same vain is there a list of OS2008 packages that come with the standard install that can be safely removed? For example some of these packages would seem likely targets to be removed given that I only need English on my n810.

Code:
ii ezitext-danish 6.0.035-9 Danish language support for the eZiText (TM)
ii ezitext-dutch 6.0.035-9 Dutch language support for the eZiText (TM).
ii ezitext-english-gb 6.0.035-9 English (GB) language support for the eZiTex
ii ezitext-english-us 6.0.035-9 English (US) language support for the eZiTex

And going further I'd like to know if for example removing the whole Wayfinder package(s) would be a problem?

If there is a HOWTO on making a default OS2008 install 'barebones' that would be great!
