Sorry, i have to clarify you sentence. A few maemo.org service are protected with a set of blacklists that COULD contain tor exit points since they are OFTEN included into blacklists.

There is NO particular will to punish tor users, but, on the other side, there is no will to whitelist some ip that has been recognized as well known source of attacks.

(This should explain how tor users appear on the web. Yes, they are hiding their identity but they are also appearing as the less desirable users that a web service could have, mixing their requests with a lot of _well_known_ malicious traffic)

Hmmm. Here is what I got in my noob brain from the above post. The many times I could browser maemo.org services with tor enabled was because the exit node must have not been blacklisted. Is that right?

Yes, it is correct, for sure not all tor exit points are blocked.

Well I gave up and whitelisted *.maemo.org as every exit node I used for at least a month was blocked. So I can safely say you will be lucky to get maemo.org via tor.

Unfortunately, most tor exit nodes will end up on the forum spam lists used here.

Ideally a captcha system would be nice, instead of blocking users completely.

Other sites that do this kind of blocking, I simply don't use them, I make *maemo.org my only exception. It's wrong to completely block traffic like this IMO.

Excuse me if the question that follows does not belong to this thread:

I'm after a VPN and I have noticed that I can not connect to "*.maemo.org" when my proxy is in Switzerland.

Any ideas please?

Thanks in advance

It doesn't belong here, but yes the answer maybe here just above.
Your VPN's IP maybe blocked by the spam filter here.
