I don't think anyone posted these yet...

One of these seems more like a combined charger and stand than a docking station, but that's kind of hard to avoid with the N900.

These have sort of limited use on the N900, as there´s only so many things you can do in portrait mode.

I agree... And since you have to plug the usb/power cable onto the top anyway, it's not that much better than just have it lying here. Except the feeling of satisfaction of letting the N900 grow old in a stable environment. So I ordered one anyway, just for that purpose. It'll look less messy than having some cables hanging over the front of the pc case, which is what I have now.

I envy the Droid/Milestone owners their cradle.

To make it more frustrating, the lock switch is buried in the cradle, so you have to hit the power button and unlock from the screen. I have a block of wood cut into a triangular prism and wrapped in electrical tape. I prop my N900 up on that, and have the USB cable neatly tucked in with the rest of the wires.

If you prefer a more elegant solution, this.

I thought the whole point of a dock was to... dock. If you're going to do it phone-jack down, you'd think there'd at least be a TRRS plug with speaker-mic or A/V connections on the back.

I'd really like a landscape dock on the USB end, but this seems as pointless as a custom-fitted beanbag chair.)

Yeah, this is more like a manual charging station. For a good N900 dock, I guess it'd have to be horisontal, slide sideways with a microUSB connector on one side. And the microUSB on the N900 is kind of a tight fit, right? Plus, it should somehow allow for the keyboard to be opened. I think I have an image in my head of how it could be done... But that wouldn't be a change-a-part-to-fit-another-phone cradle, like this one is.

For what it's worth, I asked Amzer, maker of handheld device accessories, to make something similar to the entry below for the N900:

That is not good. Let us know what Brando says.

That would be a much better cradle, I think.
