I'm in a smiliar place I also only ever owned N900 and N9 for phones (and N810 used like a SIP phone before that and Zaurus SL line before that). My wife uses android phones and it's not for me I think. I am hoping for an announcement from Jolla next month and failing that traction on Ubuntu phone (Meizu etc.) or less likely a fully functional Sailfish port to a Nexus or something (camera, bluetooth, calls, data, GPS). Blackberry has a more pleasing interface than android but it's not "hackable" enough.
