Previously I was a happy user of Erminig on an n800 running OS2008.

Now with an n900 I've installed Erminig-NG, and the first sync seems to have worked well, thus far.

Two questions:

1) Has the development of Erminig-NG paused? I've not seen any posts from lorelei for a while, and it's seems not to have progressed sufficiently to make it's way into the Maemo Extras repository.

2) I notice that the .erminig.db file contains the account credentials in the clear. Is there any plan to encrypt the credentials before they are stored in this file?

Many thanks for an essential tool.

Hmmm

With the GUI I dont seem to be able to force it to resync with the remote google calendars. I had to delete all the calendar settings so that it would do a "new" sync.

After the first sync whenever I do a manual sync on a calendar it only does
local->google.

Have I missed something?

The development seems to have gone quiet is there anything in the pipeline? :-)

Very cool, especially with Nuevasync going paid-only. Is it possible to configure more frequent syncs, though? One a day may not cut it for me. Hourly would be much better!

Cheers,

Andrew

Sure is. Read back through the thread, command line instructions are given. Use those with alarmd, fcron, queen beecon, etc.

Thanks. 16 pages of forum threads do not documentation make; so I've added the start of instructions to wiki.maemo.org/Sync.

That whole page could do with revamp, if anyone was feeling generous.

I'd also be interested in lorelei's plans for getting this from -devel to, at least, -testing; and probably even Extras proper.

'

Thanks you very many.

I'd love to promote this once it gets a little more user friendly and reliable. I still suffer from the program doing bogus updates and duplicating events in my Google Calendar.

I rather suspect that there aren't any. It's been quite some time since there was any response by lorelei in this thread and/or any updates to the app. Last activity on the forums was Aug 11 2010, last post in the thread Jul 8 2010. I'm guessing this is as far as it will get unless someone else picks it up.

The following patch to /usr/bin/erminig prevents the errors showing when doing a sync of a single or all profiles when triggered from the command line:

Code:
103c103,106
< 		error_win.display(e.title(), e.description())
---

Works for me. Further testing, including in the GUI synchronisation when Google is uncontactable is appreciated.

Is anyone working on the other bugs, this one's scratched my itch. I'll give lorelei a poke to see if he's still maintaining it; if not, we can cast about for someone to add the final spit & polish and push it through to Extras.

I've sent lorelei an email, pointing to the two patches:
  1. mdengler's fix for the Remote source picker being incorrectly populated.
  2. My fix for unobtrusively handling errors.

...and mentioned that a bug-tracker and optification would be required for getting through to Extras.

Just apply the part of the patch that doesn't touch the test.

Lorelei, I'm still interested in contributing patches somewhere directly against the repository if there is one... Let me know ?
The Subversion repo is in Garage - details at https://garage.maemo.org/scm/?group_id=702.

Have you a set of patches in trac that we could point lorelei at? He's going to have more time in a few weeks, according to the email he sent me.
