I just reflashed (refirmware) my N900 and after some basic apps i install Some Player too (1.5.6). I test the hardware key to change the track and are working fine is stand-by mode (display off)

Nope, i don't use any programing/coding testing. I was a "software tester mobile" as user profile.

it seems that SomePlayer is not being maintained anymore so i guess you'll have to use a workaround like me if you really need this.

We are lucky that dbus messages can be used to do simple operations with the player like next/previous/play of tracks.

commands:

previous track:
dbus-send --type=method_call --dest=ru.somebody.someplayer / ru.somebody.someplayer.prev
next track:
dbus-send --type=method_call --dest=ru.somebody.someplayer / ru.somebody.someplayer.next

power button dbus event (in /etc/dbus-scripts.d/dbus-scripts-settings):
[script] * * org.freedesktop.Hal.Device Condition ButtonPressed power

Read about dbus messaging here if you don't know how to use it:
http://wiki.maemo.org/DbusScripts

Good luck

This magic trick with power button works. But i am interested in volume rocker anyway. So how can i know what is the volume rocker event in "translation" to dbus language?

Greetings
