Hi,

Is there a way to run a program when the tablet connects to an wifi AP? What I am trying to do is this: When I come home, the tablet will automatically connect to my router, then run a little python script to turn on my computer (Wake-On-Lan).

Is there any way to do this, or has this already been done?

Thanks

you want dbus-scripts

I use this to set firewall (iptables) rules based on connection (ie Home, Work, Other).

Im sorry, but I really did not understand that at all. I know that dbus is used to make different programs communicate with each other, and iptables is some sort of firewall. But how do they work together, and how does it know which AP you are connected to, etc... Im a complete noob at these things, so a step-by-step would be nice!

Thesandlord:

0. Prerequisites: Some way of getting root access (I suggest rootsh from extras. Install from app manager.) Some way of editing files in /etc (I suggest nano if you're not familiar with vi).
1. Grab dbus-scripts from here -or- search for "dbus-scripts" on http://gronmayer.com/it and add the repository it's in, then install with apt-get.
2. Head over here for more information on using dbus-scripts: http://www.cobb.uk.net/770/index.html#dbus-scripts
3. You might need wireless-tools to get more info about the AP that you're connected to. You can find it on gronmayer.com/it
4. Come back here and ask questions or share your script if you think it might help others.
