Hey all,

I just got my new N800 and am loving it so far.

I've run the OS update and now am trying to use the applications manager. For some reason it just wont update. It sits there on 1kb until it times out.

Now I'm in the logs and it says :

Failed to fetch http...
Failed to fetch http...
Failed to fetch http...
Counldn't stat source...
Counldn't stat source...
Counldn't stat source...

You may want to run apt-get update to correct the problems.
Now I've downloaded xterm, and guess I just need to sudo apt-get etc... what is the root password for these nokias? Or is there something else I need to do to get this working.

Thanks

Try disabling some of the repositories until you find the one that is being flaky. Sometimes they are offline and it messes things up.

The Wiki's on MAEMO.ORG have good stuff on xterm. I installed dropbear ssh to get to root and the password for that is rootme. You can change it from there.

Otherwise you can read some things in the WIKI's that will help with gaining root. You need to enable R&D mode for xterm to be able to do root or modify a script.

There are also good repository lists on maemo.org too.

I've checked that out, but the issue is still there.

I did an apt-get update from x-term and for some reason im seeing a 1.0.0.0 ip address... Is this something to do with a proxy or something?

Ressurrected this thread as I am having exactly this problem. Did anyone ever find a solution for it?

So...I flashed my N800 with the latest build. I try to install things but they all involve a adding an application catalogue and the application manager fails with a "failed to fetch 1.0.0.0" message.

Checked the proxy settings and I have no proxy enabled. My wireless is set to auto DNS and DHCP. I can browse but not connect to application catalogues. I've disabled all the catalogues I can but the nokia one which cannot be disabled. So I can't install anything at the moment.
