Maybe simple other half with easier access to charge pins (or wireless charging), then mating contacts on the car-phone-holder side.
Bluetooth could be used for audio transfer.
Well thanks, so i think i will do something for the charging and use bluetooh for audio

If it hasn't been suggested yet.
A musical keyboard with MIDI.

Not sure if it has been said but a other half with a sim card slot giving better worldwide 3g bands would be a big seller. Especially in North America.

I am sure that the first one has been suggested before, but yeah...
So a radio transmitter other half and maybe a multimeter other half might be useful for many of us over here

Hmmm.. that multimeter sounds doable, up to certain safe voltages.
I would use somekind of isolation anyway.

--edit--

Maybe something really simple for starters;
https://www.sparkfun.com/products/retired/10956
--> Replace atmel with an I2C A/D Converter
--> Add I2C isolator and tiny isolated stepup DCDC converter for safety of your phone.

Defaults specs could be something like
  • voltage (0-30VDC, 0.05V resolution)
  • current (0-500mA, 1mA resolution)
  • resistance (0-100kΩ)

--> Make some modifications to the analog circuit
--> add some analog switches for different ranges
--> take some parts from this thing here http://www.eevblog.com/projects/ucurrent/

Biggest problems i can see here is the attachment of test leads and safety - and not making it too thick.

I didn't think of the safety issues when I posted my suggestions, but you are right!
The ui by the way looks great actually

Well I don't have a jolla, but if I had(maybe in the future ) I would definitely give it a shot!(like many others great OHs!)

I got so enthusiastic about this multimeter thingy, so starting a new thread around just this.

Who remembers the old AirUI on the N9?
Well, what about having a OH that brings a touchless interface?

Here are two projects proposing that, one already campaigning on IGG ( https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/u...ontroller#home) and one starting soon (http://ootsidebox.com/)
They are probably both based on on Microchip MGC3130.

I'm not sure what's the best form factor for such a sensor plate so that it can work near/around a mobile phone, but I think it would make a cool OH.

Main problem here is that TOH is on the backside of the phone...
unless make whole phone act as center electrode, and side-electrodes could be placed on TOH edges.

This propably doesn't work when holding phone on your hand, but might work when phone is on 'non-conductive' surface.

Anyways MGC3130 devkit in order.

I noticed that tohiri could also be used for simple gesture detection - track heat of your hand, but it is depending on temperature difference.
