I still can't install using autoinstaller, does anybody know what's the problem? Output below:

Code:
~/MyDocs/.nitdroid $ ls
N12_UMay.tar.bz2
N12_update_2.3.7.tar.bz2
n14_dev_snapshot.tar.bz2
nitdroid-kernel-2.6.28-07_7-rc7_armel.deb
~/MyDocs/.nitdroid $
Code:
Choose a build by entering its corresponding letter, or 0 to
exit > E
NITDroid N14 ICS

So : if the USB connector is broken, is it impossible to use NITDroid on Nokia N900 ???
that issue seems to be unrelated with broken usb and i would also like to know the solution for fixing it as i have no intention to reflash my maemo just so i could use crapy android for flash and couple of games...

For all those having issues running the auto installer, you have to remember that it downloads the files from the NITDroid server which is currently being moved. Therefore the installer is not going to be able to download the RootFS needed to install NITDroid.

Place the files manually in /home.userMyDocs/.nitdroid before running the installer and it should install correctly.

If you need the files, they are all here

There are so many errors and mistakes you are making, i do not know where to begin...

First: The folder to use is /home/user/MyDocs/.nitdroid . Always use the full path, unless you are really comfortable with the whole linux file system structure.

Second: Do not work on two systems, like PC and N900, or two tools, like Filebox and X-Terminal applications, to achieve the same goal, unless you are really comfortable with the whole procedure, meaning: Can do the same with manually typed commands.

Third: The file you use must be named N12_UMay.tar.bz2 . If you use some other name, path or command, there will be error messages, that have a meaning. Read them.

If unsure to correct things from here, please delete anything related to nitdroid and start over freshly
thanks for your (ranting) reply
I was lazy typing the whole folder structure out on the board, of course I always used /home/user/MyDocs/ - you are right, that can cause misunderstandings and I will do better from now on.
The files I d/l from http://db.tt/EhRANpVk where automatically extended by windows with additional .tar.gz2.tar.gz2, something I haven't noticed. When I checked with CuteExplorer, show hidden enabled .nitdroid was present and also the files I copied into it with x-terminal.

when booting up now, pressing 3, I get the error message:
"Can't flash kernel, required files not found

Maybe the attributes change will help? How can change the attributes of the files?

Code:
mv /home/user/MyDocs/.nitdroid /opt
cd /opt/.nitdroid
chmod a=rwx all files
and then? How to move them back without attributes going back to what they were?

No the attributes are okay! That was the reason for asking for the longer output to verify the rights and permissions.

So, any clues why it's not working?
