I would bother to write it myself but currently have a little more than I like on my plate.

I would rather not have to write it myself for the n900 or at worst for android..or even worser () use someone else's android app.
(which I am loathe to do for obvious privacy concerns)

The needed app in question is for one of my security side businesses...
Security Property Watch..
and I need a decent stable reliable (preferably) n900 app for it ..

similar android apps are such as this :
https://www.gocanvas.com/mobile-form...tion-Checklist

fundamentally the standard checklists include such as found here for example :
http://www.globalhomewatch.com/checklist/
http://sullivanhomeservices.com/home...kly-checklist/
http://www.cottagetocastlehw.com/upl...cklist%20A.pdf

Many would say "why not just use or make an app for android ?"
frankly...the good thing about the n900 IS the fact it is very much like Latin...the very dead language....immutable...and unchanging...which is absolutely perfect ...
Like Latin...
The N900 will not be going through any more hideous os upheavals that require apps to be rewritten ...
meaning the stability and lifespan of n900 apps is long..
meaning less B.S. to deal with.
less aggravation ...and less downtime for me.

-What I need is such a program with editable (and the ability to add new ) fields.

-The app having the ability of a memory of past client templates and details (such as name, address, multiple phone #, emergency numbers, and multiple email addresses.)

-All fields having the option of utilizing the n900 camera (video too if possible and possibly audio recorder ) to take dated timed photos (and keep them in line with the app form as mentioned next..)

And lastly the ability to turn the total completed fields into a form (preferably a pdf since most people still rely on such doc types....if I absolutely must have to convert the doc to a pdf after transferring it to a pc ...then that is bearable...) which can then be emailed to multiple parties...either immediately or stored for mailing at a later date.

The android Home Watch app is a prime example of this needed form ..video is available for viewing on youtube.....

Naturally I do not expect anyone to do this for free...
So get back to me and let me know if :
A- you can do it.
B- what sum would be suitable for your work.

and I'll mull over the massive flood of responses and pick properly
(eeny meany miney moe style )

So it's basically a checklist entry frontend with a database backend, should not be difficult to implement on any platform.

well it is good to know it is doable...
Big thing is that it must be able to do those few criteria to be functional for what is critically necessary ..

But the next question which is obvious ...will be...
does anyone have the time to do it.

Emacs (org mode) should be able to do most of it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvgfmED8RD4

Possible to export any org document as LaTeX/PDF

You can create hyperlinks to any file including pictures, soundfiles or movies created with the N900.

I would probably start to set up one document with client info (tables can be used for that) and hyperlink to the checklist org files to have a better overview and have easy access to historical data.

that is an option I had not thought of..
the problem is though...

creating hyperlinks while on site...
(not to mention every site visited ...)
for every photo taken..
every bit of video...
and every text document...
let alone every line of text...(since in some cases ...at the least a few lines explanatory may be required...)
is impractical and far far far far too time consuming ...

Time is a factor ...
I cannot spend a day at 1 site.
More like 15 min.

I wished I had the time currently as well to work on said app.

Time time time time.
time is great and time sucks.

I hope that you get beyond the "how to do it" and get some assistance to actually make it happen. Unfortunately, I'm part of the "how to do it" conversation since I've stopped programming.

Luck to you man.

So I understood you have "evolved" into a managerial role, then
No matter, you should still keep up with some programming just as an exercise...

I agree this is the probably the hardest part to implement easily but I don't think it is too hard to make it work and there are two ways to solve it.
- make a shortcut / macro that directs emacs to the directory where the picture , video or soundfiles are stored and you only have to link to the latest created file (files should be sorted with the latest file showing first).
- even better is to make emacs do that all automatically. Pretty sure that is possible, but to do that you probably need to use some elisp programming.

I don't understand that. You don't need to link to text - it is an editor... only once to link the main document with a hyperlink to the client template. You can also do everything in one huge document, but I wouldn't do that.

As mentioned the only thing not part of 'standard' org mode / Emacs is more easily linking to the files but that shouldn't be too hard to solve.
The solution does require some time investing learning orgmode / emacs if you haven't used it before.

If you are still interested in this solution I wouldn't mind providing a basic example file and show you how it could work. I don't require/want any payment.

Sure thing t-b ...
I appreciate the offer of help..
I'm in...

I enjoy learning something new and different...
It may take me a bit to accomplish my need due to the time I have to work on it ...but it sounds like it could be the viable n900 alternative to having to use or make an acceptable android app...

Awesome. Hope you will agree emacs + org mode is a fun and productive tool.

This talk from Harry Schwartz gives a nice overview what org mode is capable of.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzA2YODtgK4&t=0s

Will try to screencast a video and will show you then how I would use emacs/org mode with the overview (table) document and linking it to a template . Will PM you when it is ready (hope to have some time this weekend).
