Never tried Nokia Multimedia Transfer.
Does it allow importing playlists from iTunes?
If yes, then I suppose Nokia Multimedia Transfer can be used instead of doubleTwist.

I just used Nokia Multimedia Transfer. It seems easier.
Don't know if it's possible to save the music/playlists on the SD card via this method though, it saved them on device memory.
You can move them after though, by using the file manager.

Like many others, I have a "mature" iTunes library which I'd like to migrate to something that supports syncing with my N900 with a minimum amount of fuss. Ideally, I'd like the replacement for iTunes to keep all my metadata (in particular ratings, last play date and cover art) as well as playlists. I would also love for that replacement software to be more open (so I knew I could easily access said metadata rather than have to hack around iTunes' XML format library files).
I haven't used doubleTwist but have to admit it looks promissing; would love to give it a spin once our beloved device is fully supported.
To that extent, I have logged a feature request for doubleTwist to fully support the N900 and would suggest that interested parties visit that link and vote for this feature to be implemented.
Incidentally, have people had a chance to compare doubleTwist with Mediamonkey and/or Songbird?

I've done exactly, step-by-step what you suggested, and in fact the music sync went ok. However, although I have an "Imported" category of playlists, when I actually try to open them, the phone tells me that it was unable to find the location of each music....
Kinda disappointing...
Any suggestions?
Otherwise, it's just easier to drag and drop all musics into N900, while connected also in mass storage mode.

Yeah, I also had the same issue when I synced the playlists to SD card of the device. Did you try a reboot?
Seems like a sync issue.
Try to re-sync and if that doesn't work then use Nokia Multimedia Transfer software.
The method is similar.

I don't even have an SD Card on my device yet.
Tried also to reboot, but no luck...
I'll try to re-sync... I'm a MacOS user. Is there a compatible Nokia Multimedia Transfer Software for Mac users?
