What happens if you tap somewhere? Does the mouse curser on the desktop move?

You can also try using the volume buttons for left/right click, if tapping doesn't work for you. Also make sure the 'view only' option isn't selected.

You give the ip address of the vnc server or a server name that can be resolved to an ip address. Can be on lan or wan but if latter then port 5900 must be open and forwarded if hehind a firewall.

Which VNC-server software do you use on server side?
Are you on LAN or are you trying to connect over the internet? ...

On Linux you can simply install x11vnc package and then launch it via terminal by typing "x11vnc". The port is usually 5900, the (LAN) IP adress you can check with "ifconfig".

how would one go about building libvnc for a specific platform
