Hi everyone,

I am having trouble installing skype on my n810. I have installed a few other appications but nothing that would mess with skype. when i go to install it says I am missing these packages:

libhildonfm2(>=1:1.9.49)

libhildonmime0(>=1.10.1)

I have no idea what that means, where can i get these application packages. do i need to format my n810?
please help,
daniel

I just installed Skype on my new N810 yesterday. I did not have any problems. I did install my apps (skype including) from the repositories, once it was shown in my installable applications list.

Sorry, I don't have exact solution for your problem. Maybe worth checking is to make sure the Maemo Extras repository is not disabled in application manager. (It seem to be always disabled after flashing the OS...) It has a lot of applications and libraries that many applications require.

Generally, this error is due to having the stock version of the OS on your tablet. Shortly after the n810 was released, nokia released a new version of OS2008, so you'll need to upgrade to OS2008 version 50-2.

This involves a reflash of the tablet, though, so ensure you backup all your data in advance.

If you go to: http://www.nokia.ca/A4759013 there are instructions on how to flash up to 50-2.

Simple enough. Sounds like you're missing or unable to connect to a repository in Application Manager.
  • In Application Manager, click on the menu
  • Then Tools->Application Catalogs...
  • Look for a catalog simply called Maemo or Maemo Extras. If it exists, open it. If it doesn't exist, click New
  • Check the web address/enter a new web address as http://repository.maemo.org (note that there was a bug that this was spelled incorrectly at one point, and thus didn't work)
  • Distribution: chinook
  • Componenets: free non-free
  • Click OK to save
Should install fine now. For some reason, I don't believe that repository is enabled by default.

update to the latest version of OS2008.

I assume you are pretty new and using Windows. Nokia has a neat windows wizard that updates your tablet os.

I had this same problem on my N810, and it was cured by just updating the firmware to the latest version.

This is really really easy if you have a Windows PC, here's how to do it:
