Seems that the mechanism to send emails and create TMO threads for Board posts is not working again.

Original source

In a conference held by Nokia, Nemein and the Hildon Foundation, Nokia has offered to help economically in the process of migration. The details for starting the migration are under discussion.

Nokia is already working with the Hildon Foundation in a legal document to cover the transferring process of maemo.org assets. While this document is being reviewed and completed, the migration process of services should take place during the month of December.

Nokia is willing to provide any help in the transference of maemo.org and all of it's assets to the Hildon Foundation. To accomplish that, Nokia will pay the cost of migration to the Hildon Foundation to ensure the survival of maemo.org after the migration from Logica. The Hildon Foundation will be responsible for hosting costs at Nemein beginning in 2013.

The details are being worked out by Nemein and the Hildon Foundation.

Edit: Asked to avoid details about the support in migration, so it's now just a generic statement.

It's the least they could do given all the frustration and hardship they've caused over the years.

I assume Nemein have been selected because they are doing an absolutely fantastic job maintaining the infrastructure currently and they offered the most competitive bid, right?

The current servers running maemo.org also run some other Nokia services. So Nemein has agreed to buy some new servers which will be dedicated to and owned by HiFo, and Nokia will reimburse Nemein for the cost of those servers.

They will be at Nemein's facilities in Finland.

Nokia would only reimburse the servers if bought by one of their existing vendors. Nemein hosting will be less than Nokia's current hosting service, Logica, but there was no bidding. I think HiFo would be very receptive to any individuals or parties in the maemo community who could provide long term hosting at a highly discounted price. Nemein's past performance in maintaining the infrastructure didn't factor into it.

Could we know how long would Nokia re-imburse Nemein for the servers?

The first post says:
The Hildon Foundation will be responsible for hosting costs at Nemein beginning in 2013.
So it means just for December 2012 Nokia will reimburse Nemein?

The reimbursement is for the hardware, not the services. Once reimbursed, HiFo will own the servers forever no matter what happens in 2013. If you're asking how long it will take Nokia to reimburse Nemein, I don't know.

I should also add that the forum server and database is in the US, and we haven't decided yet if they will stay in the US or be exported to Nemein. There are considerations because the data privacy framework in EU is much different than US.
