df is the "disk free" command which shows you how much space you have on your disk. The -m option displays the result in megabytes.
If you start an xterm just type in df -m to check you have enough disk space as if you have downloaded a lot of youtube videos you could just be out of space.

Looks like it is failing launching the youtube-dl-x command.
What happens if you just run the download command directly?

Bumpsies in case someone knows of an answer.

as people where providing updated youtube-dl-x, but one need root access to copy the update to the default location of the version bundled with mytube, and as mytube can take a path as part of the youtube-dl-x command parameters in settings, i suggested it would be easier for everyone to just put the more updated copy of youtube-dl-x into /home/user/MyDoc/ (basically the same location as the N800/N810 root of the Maemo file manager).

Joy! That was it.

Somehow that file got deleted by accident.

Well, I reflashed, downloaded and followed the instructions to apply the patch correctly.

I don't understand what I'm missing on this.

If I download something, it creates the folder and thumbnail picture inside of it, but no video.

It sounds like you need the getpass.py program. Here is how I believe I got mytube working:

1)enable maemo extras and extras devel.
2)install mytube
3)install mytube patch (this installs getpass.py and an obsolete youtube-dl-x)
4)install rootsh (to gainroot to update the youtube-dl-x in the place where it is installed by the patch)
5)download the latest youtube-dl-x.tar file from this thread
6) to untar the tar: type 7)to becomeroot type 8)to copy the youtube-dl-x file (note the lack of an extension) 9)make it readable and executable by everyone: 10)exit root just to be careful 11) start mytube as normal from the menu
12)from mytube's context menu choose preferences/more
13)choose the youtube-dl tab
14type in the following:15)press the apply button
16)press the close button
17)pray. This step is optional for non believers
18)attempt to download a video
19)tell us how it went
