Recently i have noticed many guys around here saying that they have
purchased N900 from ebay and the battery is .. bla bla
here's how to deal with your batteries if it run very low
i have read alot about mobile battries .. how to keep it safe .. longtime anyways most of people around said that it's not good to make the battery die .. but not with our device guys
we have a beast

Also you can do this to change batteries without having to restart

here's how to
  • things that you need
-N900 (captin obvious recommend)
-2 batteries (most of us have more than 2 i think)

1 get the died battery
2 the phone is now working with the good battery
3 enter Xterminal
4 connect the charger to the n900
5 turn it to offline mode and dec. the brightness
6 type this in the terminal (line+enter)
Code:
root
stop bme
7 now fastly while the device is running open the cover and take out the good battery and put the bad one
8 type this in the terminal
Code:
start bme
9 wait for it 10 sec. then turn off the offline mode
  • Faqs:

Q: is it normal that the screen light turn off just after starting bme ?
A: yes just leave it and it will turn back on or just lock it and then unlock it

Q: what will hapen if i lost some time changing the battery ?
A: it will turn off

Q: what is that yellow light when i stay in "bme stopped" with no battery ?
A: it tells you that you are running out of time

One important missing thing: You should have the charger connected when you do this, right? That will buy you a bit more time...
