I just set up a nokia messaging account (email.nokia.com), had to change http to https so it would work but otherwise it seems like it went ok. I use gmail and I can see my labels, etc.

Now on the n900, I go to email, select my country, service "Nokia Messaging", then my email address, password, and then it asks for my telephone number. After this step, it stays for a minute on "contacting e-mail servers" and then "Setup will restart" and a error code.

I tried both wifi at home and gprs (edge) connection.

Any clues?

I don't have any answer for you but thank you for mentioning that you had to change the URL from http to https. I've been trying to create an account too and it wasn't working until I did that. I was able to set it up on my phone and I'm waiting to see if it actually will update every hour unlike the built in mail app that won't for me.

Just be aware before you spend a lot of time setting it up that it's not a free service. There's a trial period and they make you pay for it after that. Not sure how much it is, though.

Nothing. At some point they may charge. But not yet. Where "yet" has been "forever" - given Ovi Maps went free, odds are good nokia mail could stay free forever.
