Ettercap and scapy can both do these if you put in the effort. Don't be another of the million kids on this board that know no linux and want a big hildon button declaring "31337 H4CKz0rz 8UTT0N"

the hacking-tool angle has been beaten to death (see my sig for more) but N900 cannot operate in infrastructure mode, so no spoofing basestations (sniffing traffic is easy though if you know what you're doing).

Hmm you are wrong though.
Joikuspot and mobilehotspot has already change n900 to be infrastructure mode.

Last I checked mobilehotspot, it showed up as an ad-hoc connection, has this changed recently?

nope, the parent is wrong (and I'm the lead developer for MHS). Joiku is also ad-hoc only on N900.
