I hope Flash vanishes from the net.
Steve Jobs is right; it is too damn buggy, binary blobs.

edit: BTW, I did not start this thread, but these messages were transfered from another thread to this by some moderator.

HTML 5 has the same quirks, but for (mainly- some similar) different technical reasons

BTW, Mr. Jobs seems like a tool to me.

He's a nice guy until someone takes something from him without his consent..

An example of Adobe Flash crashing bug which has been unfixed from the start when 64-bit flash-plugin for Linux was released (2 - 3 years already?):
http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-4193

(different representations and versions for the same bug):

Did you have the 64-bit version of Firefox and flashplugin?

I also have another x86_64 machine where the bug doesn't manifest, but in this another it does every time:
cpu family : 15
model : 75
model name : AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+
stepping : 2
Everything else works w/o crashes in that machine so hardware failure is unlikely.

I can't reproduce that on an Intel based computer; however it is easily reproduce-able on AMD.

I somewhat cite the known Intel "Cripple AMD" compiler function for a lot of woes. Unscientific guess, btw.

And as a Flash/Flex dev, I find the fact that most browsers have used the older Netscape model for plugins. Time for an overhaul, like the one Chrome is thinking about doing.

And if the discussion is about long-forgotten bugs, I think the one MS had for the DOS exploit that was 20+ years old is second only to a few 25+ year old UNIX bugs, like this one.

To my knowledge, neither of them have 64 bit versions, yet.

What is Chrome doing?

Does not crash on x86, x64 Windows7 Ultimate, Vista Home and Windows XP pro.
So this a remark about "I hope flash dies" just comes from a person who is very very very much influenced by mr Jobbz.

The "I hope flash dies" comments usually come from Steve Blow Jobs fan boys and/or people who know nothing about Flash.

I work as a multimedia/web designer and I hate Flash only websites. Unfortunately I had to work on some.
But Flash is awesome when used properly. Flash is not just stupid animations and video.
