Intel want to use MeeGo on Tablet / Netbook / Cars / Handset.

So they want all the APIs to be the same.

Intel had already got Moblin, which use RPM package system.

So, Tablet/Netbook/Cars will use RPM package system.

They cannot accept that only on Handset, use the DEB system.

So MeeGo Handset also use DEB system.

But on the NOKIA side, Maemo 5 use DEB system,

It is not a easy work to transfer from DEB to RPM for a whole system.

So, Maemo 6, which NOKIA is now working on, uses DEB, NOT RPM.

Maybe in MeeGo 2 or Maemo 7, it will be RPM.

Is that right ?

My question is why not NOKIA use RPM directly ?

When a developer want to develop an App for MeeGo,

He/She had to prepare a deb version and a rpm version.

There is no good for developers.
