Just upgrade to the latest version. It open and close automatically.

installed the update, but after starting columbus closes. did the ldconfig to previous version

It seems it's OK now.

Just installed new version and after reboot Columbus started normally.
I have yet to test the gps as i am indoors at the moment.

Try manually refreshing your package list in ham.
