Stupid way of thinking. Seriously, plain stupidity. The mobile phone is defined by hardware, software and services working in perfect harminy to give the user he experience he seeks. The limits are only those set to assure everything work as planned within the economics of the market, and assuring the users are satisfyed. This is the same for high end and low end, but different markets sets different restrictions on overall price.

I hope Otellini kicks Elop in the balls if he's trying to ditch Meego. I really don't want an Intel branded phone...

If Nokia releases a single core, slow GPU device in the 2011 they are doomed

If Nokia doesn't integrate Ovi and social services into the device properly they are doomed

If Nokia doesn't fix Ovi Store and attracts developers to use Qt they are doomed

In summary , I think there is a lot of pressure on Elop and on the rest of management but if they pull this off Nokia will become unstoppable

Increase sales numbers? Make prettier phones, offer them in various colors, make them fashionable accessories. The ladies shop by the looks of a phone, they are clueless and don't care about an OS. Just include a browser, E-mail, perhaps Facebook.
(I will not even duck and run for saying that. Just my experience)

A good range of decent devices with the same OS (or two OSes if you wish, bound by Qt).

I know nobody here pays attention to me when I rant about DEVICES, because many people here are developers and care more about software. But, this is putting the carriage in front of the horse. Hardware always comes first. N900 alone doesn't cut it.
I do actually agree with this. I like the n900 because of the hardware (good screen, fantastic memory, good camera, "toys" like IR port, etc).

I spend 1/2 my time booted into Android, where much (although sadly) not "All" of the hardware works.

I do realize that it's a specialist device (too thick/heavy, too unpolished, weak phone features). But, more than any device on the market, I feel like it embodies the direction phones are moving in (as very small portable computers).

So, I just wanted to say you're not the only one paying attention to the hardware and thinking Nokia needs to do the same.

WP7 won't die that easily - it already has a very big developer base.
MS's development tools are too comfortable to ditch.

*STOCKHOLDERS* do not want short term profits.

Stockholders want long term and steady dividends.

Daytraders and short term investors want short-term price churning.
