What about the entire pre-assembled unit, once you hit 1k+ what price (approx) can you do for it?
Yes, exactly that is what I'm saying I hope to announce soon (actually I wrote '< 500' - as in "less than", not "equal").

You tell me how much the N900 spare parts cost, and I tell you how much the complete Neo900 will be more than the bare board.

It seems I got a "ball-park" (which is all I was ever asking) without the attitude:
Approximations for now are that the complete device should cost 100-150 EUR more than board alone.
Thanks for your answer to the other points though...

1. Will it be possible to send in your n900 and get neo900 back?

Good question. I guess it will not really make economic sense, since we'd need to test and then disassemble your N900, while otherwise we work from batch. The overhead for the unusual procedure may easily outweigh the savings on the component side. But we haven't looked into that alternative yet. Thanks for bringing it up :-)

Seems Dos1 just quote a former "ballpark answer without attitude" I gave in this very thread. Amazing how he was able to not show any "attitude". I assumed you were aware of this former answer and wanted to ask about more specific details or whatever.

My apologies, your style of writing is confusing at times, I misunderstood what you were trying to say*, it doesn't hep that I've not had much sleep lately.

*it's still not terribly clear

I voted for a 400 euro price point for the bare board as money is pretty tight at the moment. I have 3 fully functional N900s and of those there is an almost-as-new one I would drop the board into. Looking forward to this project being successful, I really am.

If I can help with any software dev or beta testing, where can I go?
I have an N900 and a device with DM3730 @1 GHz with u-boot, HWKB, touch screen @ 800*480 I can test on. (RAM is at 512MB, but no real diff.)

Point me in the right direction....

As for price point: I did click on 700, but that was for the full phone, bare board, I'd be more inclined at the 400-500 mark.

Please update neo900.org page with the current status and update your first post as well.

Another battery post, huh
Neo900 will maybe provide battery hot-swap feature, and Estel's (super) cover maybe too (just image Neo900 smoothly running Fremantle inside this shell ).

What you can for sure do, is that you can buy 2+ batteries - average battery life for me is something about 6 hours of active use (SSHing, VNCing, WiFi scanning, Nmaping, playing sdl-sopwith ... all these funny things which will be with Neo900 even more funny).

By the way, what are these 'bugs which prevents daily use of the phone' ? (maybe they can be fixed, but you must say what you want to fix).
