No. Not a 800 pixel wide display.

But I'd *love* a case like this for my N800.

I am gonna have to make a case like this - add the n800, a mini bluetooth keyboard and some leather together...

Opinion on the Athena - Windows Mobile or whatever they call it today stinks. I do not like the interface at all.

Nice, but this thread's in the wrong topic. There's a Competitors section for this sort of thing. Thanks.

Love the keyboard+case+protector idea (maybe something Nokia can use on the N900?)

Dont Care for the built-in phone functionality - adds weight, complexity and cost when I'd rather provide my own phone that I can upgrade seperately when necessary.

Don't Like the sub-par CPU (it's getting a bit long in the tooth) and hard disk drive (adds weight and sucks down battery lifetime).

Hate the screen resolution and of course, Windows CE.

Summary: Not a N800 competitor due to the small screen - 640x480 delivers a horrible Internet experience.

But one advantage has the HTC Athena

it has many and also executable applications

When invests Nokia finally into this topic ?

The open SOURCE community does not create it fast enough -

everywhere is made a little - but no focus of the top 10 - in order to win

( contrary to Apple iPhone, HTC Athena, and others - there comes )
unfortunately

I think you are confused indeed. What exactly do you want?

More applications for the N800? The community is working on them, you know. All they need from the users is feedback and a bit of patience.

Commercial applications for the N800? Well, you're scr*wed there, mate. You can feedback all you want and be patient 'til kingdome come, commercial entities do what they want, not what you want them to do. Asking doesn't help either; I should know, because I've done my fair share of asking (I've asked PhatWare to port Calligrapher, Softmaker for Softmaker Office) and they just say, "No".

So it seems you can choose: Buy the superior product (N800) and "jones" for software a bit, or by the Windows cr*p and enjoy the fact that you've joined the mediocrity.

(Please note that I didn't say that you should develop your own applications. I can't do that myself and frankly, I find that a bogus and offending argument)

I have a N770 and a N800 and my request (Nokia) for the future:

1) Quality assurance and consolidated online download (applications)

2) focus up of the 10 ? most important applications for the N800 user - less is more

3) focus up (google docs, spreadsheets, PIM )- online and offline application

4) Newest Browser Version - up-to-date and not an old version

5) Newest Flash Version - up-to-date and not an old version

6) Bluetooth Mouse support

7) User comfort - no Linux only for Freaks - keep it simple (look iphone)

I pay also gladly for good software

Like I said: There is no way in hell you can order a commercial company to do what you want. Nokia chose the Open Source road[*] and now you're basically telling them you don't want that. Well, tough...

My advice to you (in all amicability): Go buy something else; you'll never be happy with the way the NXXX series is managed.
____

[*] Incidentally, one of the principles of Open Source is: "Release early, release often". It appears Nokia is applying that principle to the NXXX hardware as well. Maybe that's partially also why they can keep the price down: Use early adopters as beta-testers.

For the record: I'm cool with that, as long as the benefits of that go back to the NXXX community, which sofar they most certainly have.
