Hi all,

I know there are a few of us TouchPad owners on the TMO who would be interested to here that the CM7 team have released their CyanogenMod7 Alpha version on Android for HPs tablet with an on screen DUAL BOOT menu

Here are the info pages

I have still yet to install this and have to update the OTA webOS firmware too before that. Apparently it still has some bugs but It looks good so far.

Pay attention to the warnings and warranty messages blah blah blah, but if you have Nitdroid installed on n900 then you know the drill.

I'm exited

Have fun!

You should install it. Works fine with dual booting.

If you have already install the CM Android and then upgrade to OTA webos, you only need to flash the "moboot" file one more time
and you are back with dual boot business.

Things "must" do after the CM Android update:
- Apply the fix for the wifi (workaround only)
- Apply the fix for the sleep of death
- Apply the fix for the Market not showing "all" applications e.g. Facebook

Other than that, all works fine. (Well, this is alpha release ) - So dont expect all games or apps are working.

In unrelated news, HP pushed an update of WebOS out yesterday evening, my tablet is now as snappy at stock speed as it was overclocked to 1.5GHz
I'll wait until CM7 is a bit more mature before slapping it on there...

Could you tell me how?

AFAIK, I can only get my n900 to create an Ad-Hoc network, and CM7 on the tablet tells me Ad-Hoc is currently not supported...

Ad-hoc network with the workaround on HP TP will allow you to tether. Its a bit of work to start it on TP but write a script and it works.

The solution uses Google DNS address (8.8.8.8) but not sure why

oh right... well, I don't particularly like that workaround as I have quite a few wifi networks configured, and the workaround involves deleting them to start. Yuck.

And that's WebOS, I thought this was a hack on cm7

It is not clean but you dont have to delete any connections, I have two scripts, one is to start wifi so that it can connect to n900 hotspot and the other to stop it and start normal Webos wifi. Yes, it is not on CM7 but WebOs. Also, there is no encryption supported.

I have now tested CM7 on TP and wifi connecting to n900 running Qtmobilehotspot without any workaround.

CM7 seems to be quicker but I have no apps installed yet. For alpha release it is truly great
