brilliant.
Necro900.

Well ...its better than the walking-dead zombie-neo900 threads we have been dealing with for the longest time now...

Definitely change the intro from
"so it begun:
Introducing the Neo900 project - the first true successor for N900"
to
"So it is done:
Exiting the Necro900 project - the ending of the successor for the n900"

I believe the entire neo900 subforums and their accompanying threads need to be mothballed, packed up and put into the Archive subforum
along with all other failed startup threads.
If ever there is anything of any possible value that can be used in them....they can be referred to there.

This is YET another call for admin to clean up the roadkill on the TMO highway.

Ibra my good man...
an immediate maemo DEVICE successor to the n900 may be in the close or distant future now...
But...
an os successor to Fremantle is pretty much here.

maemo Leste is well worth the effort to come here.
I am waiting for some serious time off to install and enjoy it on one of my n900's

[6 May 2019 16:44:45] <DocScrutinizer05> there's no inspiration in Neo900 anymore
[6 May 2019 17:03:13] <DocScrutinizer05> a year ago I was busy founding a new "joint venture" company together with PrivateInternetAccess, to build STEP2 streamlined and solidly funded by 7 to 8 digit capital, and compensate all Neo900 customers. Alas I wasn't allowed to speak about it back when, so no updates for the website and no joy of sharing the good news with community for me (would have helped a lot to cure my burnout and community frustration). Then a few months later PIA realized that their HR plans were not implementable because for one key position the planned person wasn't available, and they put the project on hold until the issues solved. They kept sponsoring Neo900 to keep the UG alive so eventually they could restart STEP2 and the company merger. Now PIA changed their mind probably since business changed for VPN providers and they stopped sponsoring me / the UG. This means Neo900 UG is definitely at an absolute dead end now. And so am I

That is very sad news. I would like to thank you and the team members for your efforts all this time, despite the difficult community moments and multiple barriers encountered along this rocky road. The endeavor was huge and it was great to have something like that to look forward to. Of course, hope has been decreasing over the years and the wait was sometimes bitter, but there was still trust on my side and I am grateful that people like you committed to tackle the issue of full privacy on mobile phones, with keyboard/resistive screen/stylus. That surely deserves a lot of respect for even trying, considering all he costs that it implied.

In any case, I hope the damage is restricted to the loss of the down payments of those who invested in the project, but your last sentence leaves some concern. I hope you managed to deal with the burn-out. Except time, sweat and hope, which is not nothing, did you invest and lose more than what the down payments covered (I mean, capital)?

Regarding the stall, are there any other funding opportunities? If PIA considered funding the project for some time, maybe others would, never know. What will happen to the sourced N900s if no alternate funding options exist, or if it is now deemed unreasonable to continue anyway?

Every business I have helped crash into a mountainside has at least been a boon to the FOSS community.
Thanks for the epic try Joerg

There is little thjat'S not already available since I always shared everything that's reasonably sharable without risk. What isn't public yet are the results from efforts of several layouters, which I'll move to the public git soonish

Thanks for pointing at this to remind me :-)
cheers
