Is there a way to get the actual percent of battery time left rather than hours left or days?

No, not in Maemo.

To be honest, I rather have the time left. Between so many batteries and devices, the % on any particular battery doesn't say much. Add in load changes and I rather have the device calculate it / estimate it for me.
This of course doesn't help my math skills

I'd like to have this information during charging. While charging it only says that it's charging, but not for how long...

My Treo 700p will tell the percent of battery left by tapping on the battery icon, it gives me a better idea how long i have left

Yes, but that's a Palm. As it hardly does anything at all, it's not that difficult to predict battery depletion.

Oh:

Gripping hand: Just about anyone is better at battery gauges than the Nokia Itablets.

The battery level meter in the status bar is actually a random number generator, why anyone is interested in what it says (whether it be in days & hours or percent) is beyond me as it's usually total bo11ox. Mine can say I've got 2 hours left and 5 minutes later I'm getting battery low warnings - it's total nonsense.

It's very useful!
If the screen is lit and you can see it it means your Nokia is on.
