To compete with iPhone 4, they will introduce a new feature thru PR1.3:

"auto disconnect side touch area"

omg, its alive.

1)
Well, I wouldn't mind having BME open sourced, to make the battery level indicator actually (not) work,

2)
or to have offline search and navigation possibility in Nokia Maps and to be able to save trackpaths and routes for later use.
[See a bug and the other bug.]

3)
Nore it wouldn't hurt if when keyboard and touchscreen is disabled with the slide-key, it would NOT re-enable them just by opening the qwerty-keyboard accidentally in a pocket or by incoming phone call or alarm. If I have put the device's user-input-system to sleep with a switch-key, I only want to wake the user-input back with a switch-key (or powerkey+virtual-slide-key). I can also answer those phone calls and shut down alarms after the slide-key, no problem. Now the current design (PR 1.1, PR1.2) does not just work.

Here's an example of a bug that was closed as fixed in an internal build number higher than PR 1.2:

https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10345

Granted, this was fixing a regression from PR 1.1.1, but I would still consider it as evidence that Nokia is planning PR 1.3 at some point.

It has been announced before PR 1.2 and contains QT Mobility as front feature.

Nokia might not be the most regular company with firmware updates but they are pretty reliable in not abandoning phones too early.

I remember getting an unbelievable new firmware update for my N95 8GB long after I thought they had left it to die.

They usually take almost 2 years to figure out how to increase battery life in their handsets

The only other thing that I think desperately needs an upgrade is the email client....what a piece of sh*t. SO slow, so clunky, my N95 was faster!
