Wallpaeper allows you to create, install, preview, edit and/or delete image sets, without having to type a .desktop file.

Screenshots!
The main screen:

You can create an image set by setting a name and 4 images:
(option to create an invisible file is included)

Or just select one image, press 'Copy to..' and duplicate it:
(multi-selectable)

The image set manager shows all the installed image sets, including the invisible ones.
Preview an image set: (option for filename or real name in menu)

Edit an image set:

Install an image set:

Or delete an image set:

Please report any bugs you may find, or post suggestions to improve Wallpaeper. Thanks!

By looking at the screenshots I found a bug hahah
It doesn't use underscores in the filename (save button)

I will look into it!

I've just updated Wallpaeper to v0.2-1

Changes:
* Fixed: segfault when pressing preview button if none is selected
* Fixed: wrong filename when editing existing image set
* Bugtracker link is specified now
* Buttons in dialogs have usual look now
* Window title is always "Wallpaeper" now, no "- Manager" or "- Select 4 images" added anymore
* Ability to change filename manually
* Filenames can have spaces and underscores now
* Code optimisation

You're welcome

I'll gladly accept any bugreports or feature requests. I'm thinking about a rename (filename) function in a next version.

Very very handy app , but I have just one feature request.

Although this seems pretty far fetched and unrelated, Can there be an option to automatically set random wallpapers at user defined intervals, for each individual desktop. Example:

For 'desktop 1' The user selects an image folder and sets images to be changed every 4hrs.

For 'desktop 2' The user selects a different image folder and sets images to be changed (at random) every 9hrs.

Same concept for desktops 3 & 4.

Sounds like a great idea

I don't know how to make something that runs in the background yet, but it would be nice for a future release indeed thanks

v0.3-1 is now available in Extras-devel

* Fixed: at manager startup, first item in filelist is active, but not selected
* Fixed: can't go to task-switcher when delete-dialog is open
* Show name of image-set when pressing Preview button
* Changed button-text "Select 4 images" to "Create new"
* (Create window) show filename below preview after selecting image
* Added filetype filter for file dialog (images only)
* Allowed filetypes: *.bmp, *.gif, *.ico, *.jpeg, *.jpg, *.pbm, *.pgm, *.png, *.ppm, *.svg, *.tif, *.tiff, *.xbm, *.xpm

My next idea is to make a "Doctor" section, which checks the integrity of all .desktop files in /home/user/MyDocs/.images.
Checks if all the needed elements are in it, if the specified images really exist, if a Type or Name is specified, etc.

As I've read here (solution in post #7), wrong .desktop files cause trouble.

But of course, .desktop files made by Wallpaeper are in the right format :P

Version 0.4 will be available in about half an hour, updates:

* Added icons to filelist
* Added 2 menu options to Manager: view names, view filenames
* Checks if file exists when pressing Preview, Edit or Delete (in case it got deleted meanwhile)
* New look for Image-select buttons
* Only opens .desktop files that contain "Type=Background Image"
* Better support for broken or bad .desktop files in Preview
* Minor improvements
* Code optimisation

Edit: by the way, v0.3.3 updates the following:
* Changed allowed filetypes to the ones in hildon-home source
* Allowed filetypes: *.jpeg, *.jpg, *.gif, *.png, *.bmp, *.tiff

I'm off to bed
