"Why aren't they intervening and preventing us from doing any more harm to either one another ...other species here...or to the planet itself..? "
Especially considering any intelligent race (most likely many many many races...) that is (or plural .."are"...) more advanced than ours is (or "are" ...again) most likely as well ...to have a far more refined and acute sense of ethic and morality....
(and please no one throw a glib Star Trek quote of "non interference " into the arena...

If any alien species found this place ...
and didn't invade to take the planet for its resources (the most likely survival response)
Then the natural other end of the spectrum would be a "Day the Earth Stood Still" response...
Intervening and preventing us harming one another, the planet or the indigenous flora and fauna on it.
I do have a hard time believing any advanced species would just ...do nothing at all...just be furtive...joy ride around and be seen...and nothing more...
