After an entire month without any list, and with the newcome PR 1.2, our Extras-Testing QA queue is overflowing apps needing testing and votes.

Here is a new list, (hopefully) the first of June 2010.

Maemo.org Testing-Squad needs new members, so if you want to help us just read this page and choose an app to test from the Repository QA queue. After you have tested it, just vote in the app dedicated page by clicking on the thumbs up or thumbs down. If you need help in testing software, or in understanding and following the QA queue rules, just write in this thread or send me a PM, I'll answer as soon as I can.

BTW one community member has created a very good Google Spreadsheet automatically updated from the Extras-Testing QA queue pages, you can use it for quickly look at the general situation and for choosing what to test. This is the link. When using it, remember that it could be a little outdated if compared to testing pages, and that it could contain errors, so keep it in mind.

This week's list is optimized for cleaning the queue a bit and for newcomers, so let's start with a list of apps that can be directly voted down. If you click on the links, you will open the testing page of that app: if you read the comment, you'll discover the reason why you can vote thumbs down; of course I'm not the only thinking that reason is valid.

YOU CAN VOTE THESE APPS THUMBS DOWN:

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...0.9.4-update1/ REJECTED!

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...s.20050713-7f/ REJECTED!

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...dotzero/1.0.2/ REJECTED!

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...e-acute/0.0.1/ REJECTED!

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...olders/0.23-3/ REJECTED!

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...egweled/0.9-7/

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...opwatch/0.2-6/ REJECTED!

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...el/matrix/1.1/ REJECTED!

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...ugin-haze/0.8/ REJECTED!

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...ttpd/1.4.26-2/ REJECTED!

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...3/3.2-0maemo7/ REJECTED!

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...atscene/1.2.3/ REJECTED!

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...nqaap/0.7.2-1/ REJECTED!

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...ashback/0.1-2/ REJECTED!

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...2-3fremantle3/ REJECTED!

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...line/0.9.94-1/ REJECTED!

Many of this apps deserve thumbs down even if you don't install them, because they have a wrong or missing or broken bugtracker, so please just vote down in order to remove them and clean the queue.

After a new session of testing, I've selected these new apps that can be voted down.

NEW LIST OF CAN-BE-VOTED-DOWN APPS:

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...edfreak/0.8-7/ REJECTED!

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...itter/0.3.3-9/ CANCELLED!

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...3/3.2-0maemo8/ REJECTED!

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...otify/0.2.0-2/ REJECTED!

EMERGENCY: VOTE THIS DOWN IMMEDIATELY (this app takes 70MB in rootfs!!!!)

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in....0372-3maemo6/ CLEANED!

UPDATE:

And now a list of apps that have already been tested by many testers and have never received any thumbs-down (so they are supposed to be ok). I'm not asking you to just vote them up, you'll have to install them and test them: the fact that they are near promotion just ensure that basic points (optimisation, big bad blocker, etc...) have already been tested. Btw I've personally tested all of them with PR 1.1.1, so if you have PR 1.2 your testing will be more appreciated.

I know they're a lot, but if you managed to test even 5/7 of the ones with less votes you'll help a lot cleaning the queue.

MAYBE YOU WILL NEED SOME SKILLS FOR TESTING THESE:

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...2.1.1-1maemo1/ PROMOTED!

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...s/2.6.6-1nix0/ PROMOTED!

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...cklet/0.0.1-4/ PROMOTED!

http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...u/8.4-2maemo1/ PROMOTED!

That's all for now.

We do need more testers, so newcomers are really welcome: Testing-Squad wants you.

I'll start testing again as soon as my n900 comes back from Nokia, hopefully with the bottom of the screen reattached.

There are a lot of themes seemingly stuck in testing at the moment due to possible rootfs / optification problems. Has anyone got any bright ideas on how to deal with them? I personally don't think they can be allowed into Extras until this has been resolved unfortunately.

You can vote those apps even without an N900, their faults are evident even in the testing page.

The themes thing is weird: they all take about 450 KB of rootfs, which is under current limit for being a problem (actual limit is 500 KB). We have already promoted apps with similar behaviours, but themes seems to be different because they are so many.

I've personally voted all the themes thumbs up, because they are all ok according to qa rules, but the problem exists.

You did actually test all of the themes?
For example, for ones that make UI elements invisible.

Another issue that would make the QA list easier to use would be if there was some way to get a list that is not broken into many parts.

I have scrollbars, I'm quite capable of scrolling down a list.
I want to find the package 'time something'
I search for time.
Oops - not on this page.
Click next.
search again
wait
click next.

Yes I did sir Actually I have tested more than 70% of the apps in testing. Have you seen the testing chart?

It happened to me just a couple of times the invisible elements thing, or characters not properly readable, and I noticed them to the developer.

I have not seen the testing chart, as I have failed to see a link to it.
Searching the wiki shows nothing.

Thanks. Remember to check the bugtracker (read http://wiki.maemo.org/Bugtracker for more info) and optification (in case of larger than 500KB apps), and welcome!
