i guess it cannot be fixed "in house"

ps: it has nothing to do with the new fabulous firmware upgrade

I take it you mean that it makes a crackling noise, rather than actually cracking? I've seen this mentioned before (though that person had peeled off a screen protector and apparently pulled the screen unstuck while doing so), but not often, so I guess it's pretty rare. If you've just got the phone then I'd consider asking for a replacement, otherwise it depends on how much of an irritation it is.

As of last week (about a month of use) my phone began doing this. It makes a cracking noise in the upper right quadrant of the phone when it's pressed. Pretty annoying so I figure I'll send it in when I locate a decent Tmobile spare.

does it crack? crack as in break and is now broken, or do you mean creak as in make a creaking sound?

I just checked my phone, I can visually see a gap open up between the screen and bezel when I press the upper half of the screen. It does not happen on the bottom edge, YET.

yeah i think i have the same problem. makes like a little click noise when i push the top middle part of the screen. i have also removed a screen protector so maybe thats the cause. hope it don't cause any serious damage or get worse otherwise i can live with it i guess.

actually after removing and re-installing a screen protector i started hearing this cracking sound. There is something loose near the top right side...
