Also, you should keep the u button pressed while plugging the phone to the computer, not while inserting the battery (i wasn't sure if your phone was connected, and this is the way to put the phone into firmware upgrade mode, holding u while plugging the cable in)

It all happened like magic.
I left the phone untouched.

Then, charged my battery externally. After that, I flashed the N900 using ubuntu, the usual way. The R&D mode suddenly worked like a charm (I don't know why, lol).

It was probably the charged battery that did it. It really wants a fully charged battery.

Not really. The battery wasn't fully charged, but I think it's about 80+% charged.

thanks!!! after months with a bricked phone using an ubuntu usb iso and the command here.... its working again!!!

edit: and a usb 1.0 port

the screen of my windows xp appear it to me... i use windows xp. please help me from venezuela!!!! already battery full
