Hello,
I've seen once a variant of AbiWord which looked more like the desktop version.
I had to reflash my device and now I can find only the version which is optimised for Maemo.
It was abt 20MB and did not use Debian installer.
Can anyone point me towards the more complex one?
Our colleague "debernardis " has tried to help me, but all we found was the simple version for Maemo.

I'm ready to offer $20 reward via PayPal

Thank you.

Firstly, install the Easy Debian Turbo-Charged edition:
http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=24272

Then, install Abiword inside Debian (you can simply click on the 'chroot' icon):
apt-get install abiword

After that, you got the full debian version. Note that hildon virtual keyboard does not work.

Is this what you want? Donate to qole who came up with Easy Debian then

Thank you.
I have installed Easy Debian Turbo Charged and works nice.
Is Abiword (inside chroot )working with the hardware keyboard on N810?

The version I was looking for was installing directly (no chroot) .
Any ideas?
Thank you.

Complex? How so?

I just installed the Abiword in application manager, and it seems to have all of the functions of Abiword.

Yes, the interface is more simple, but if you click the menu key, all the options are there. There is no missing functionality.

If it is not in your app manager, PM me and I will send you my repos.

The one I'm looking for was a full blown Abiword:
-desktop like menus
-possibility to open/save as in many formats including PDF.
I have installed the strip down Maemo version (the one in repos) but it doesn't offer all the facilities.

Have successfyly installed Abiword under Chroot.
The program started fine, but the surprise came when I tryed to type first word: all leters were typed in the same location(one on top of another), the cursor never moved!
I uninstalled and installed it again, but unfo same bad result.
I looked thru settings, but I didn't find anything .
Any ideas?

I just installed on my N800, and have no problem in typing etc.

Did you do a 'apt-get update' before installation? This would update the applications catalog. Do this, then try installing again.

BTW, do you know you don't have to run abiword inside LXDE? You can simply type 'debbie abiword' inside your xterm, or create a shortcut in your launcher (Personal Menu etc), and abiword will run within maemo hildon
