I have added birthdays for most of my contacts inside their Contact card. However the N900 calendar does not display a contacts birthday.

Am I missing something? I really don't want to add them manually again in the calendar.

Thanks

Make sure you have the Birthdays smart calendar enabled (in the Calendar app, tap on the menu bar and select "Settings", then select "Edit calendars")

There is no option for enabling or disabling the Birthdays smart calendar in the Calendar App (I dont even see the Birthdays Smart Calendar).
Something I have to add?

@afag- goto setting in your calendar.
you would find an option Edit Calendars. select that and check if birthdays is enabled there.

It wasn't enabled by default on my phone, either.

Open the calendar app, select Settings from the Menu, press Edit Calendars, press New, Next, and choose the "Birthdays smart calendar" type.

Press Finish, and you're done.

Got it. Thanks

Seems like it should really be enabled by default.
