Welcome to the forum and n900 family.
Make sure you are in latest firmware 2.2010.02-08, if not it will update yours once you are in network.
Rest you will come to know, once you start exploring. If any question, search this forum. There are plenty of interested things in here.

When I got my n900 in December 2009 I did this:

Make sure you donwload noobmonkey's harware checker (make sure you get the latest version).

@ahmadamaj - all updates will install over the air automatically, so really just start using it and the thing will sync itself.

thank you all. But one more question, i read somewhere here that there are different versions of the hardware, could that be a problem.
