Hi guys! Has anyone successfully setup their SIP account on the N9, and make it work over 3.5G (HSDPA) connection?

I'm buffled as to why I cannot create a connection over 3.5G while I could over WiFi.

The fact is, I can do this on my Nokia E66 (using the same SIM card without any problem. Perhaps I just missed something in the settings?

Anyone in the know care to chime in? Thanks!

For what it's worth: it works with Nonoh.net and 12Voip.com.

Don't have N9 (yet), but it works on T-mobile (US) network and N900.

Why this is becoming interesting to me is this: I plan to get a new T-mobile monthly (no contract) plan for $30 that includes "unlimited" (5GB) internet, but only 100 minutes of talk time. By using SIP I could get "unlimited talk" as well.

ok. Here's my setting:

Use for Telephone calls: On
Username: ' as provided'
Transport: UDP
Outbound proxy: sip.voipwelcome.com
Port: 5060
Discover public address: On
Loose rouing: On
Keep-alive period: Automatic
Auto-detect STUN: On

Aside from our different VOIP company, do you have a similar setting?

Thanks!

@Mara
I got unlimited DATA at 7MBPS on this SIM; can also share my connection via Hot-Spot app on N9. Plus 200 free SMS/month

Thanks ste-phan.

I changed to your settings.. Still no go. I re-inserted my SIM to my E66, and it works.... What's weird is that on the N9 only incoming works (I forgot to mention this in my initial post), using my HSPA+ capable SIM. SIP works perfectly on my Nokia E66

I use Sipgate on my phone for SIP and send it across the HSDPA connection provided by '3' in the UK.

I was using my AirPort Extreme at home with my Android phone by this one just keep dropping connections when I do.

No problems over the 3.5G.

Replying myself:

I got N9 and T-mobile Monthly 4G $30 plan with unlimited (5GB) data. Tested SIP over 3G connection and it worked. However, there was quite long delay after picking up on other end before the N9 noticed the line is "opened".

Need to give this a bit more testing to see how useful this feature is.
