Already tried minutes after the dev posted about it on maemo-users. It does not work yet. Seems that the dev has it running in Scratchbox (the maemo simulation environment), but it's not working on the actual 770 yet.

Is there anymore news known about the port of this program or any other client/viewer solution to control another (Ms)pc?

There has been one other attempt that at least works on the 770. The problem is that there is no virtual keyboard support for it yet. You'll have to wait until someone has the free time, and the will to add this if you can't add it yourself.

Gultig, what is this other attempt? Do you have a link? Would a USB keyboard (as discussed at http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...read.php?t=564) work with that VNC port?

Given the various excited discussions about what a great tool the 770 would be as a pocket remote controller for admins, etc, you'd think the community would be a little more active about getting the VNC client working on the 770.

OK, I found the alternate VNC client at:
http://vidar.gimp.org/n770.phpx

I installed it and gosh darn if it doesn't actually work!

Keyboard access would be nice, but seeing a tiny version of the XP screen at my office is still pretty thrilling (and no, I don't get out a lot).

Bigboote, is the graphical part of this VNC client working?
With other words can you see the server screen and navigate with through the touchscreen?

I wonder also why there is so less interest to get this thing work.
It will be great to use the 770 as remote, like for example a music browser.

Yes, the VNC client shows my WinXP PC desktop (running the UltraVNC server). You can use the stylus as a remote mouse to manipulate the XP desktop.

Problems:

- You can't resize, zoom, or fullsize the display (but you do get slider bars so you can scroll around to see different parts of the desktop).

- No keyboard support. I'm hoping to get a USB keyboard running and will report back whether this works with the VNC client.

PS: if Vidar, the dev who did the VNC port, is lurking, or someone knows how to contact him: he needs to update his email address on his website (http://vidar.gimp.org/n770.phpx).

FYI: I bought and rigged up a BTC USB keyboard according to the suggestions at http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...read.php?t=564

As reported, the keyboard works great, including with Vidar's VNC client!
