I wished to set my own ring tone on my N900.

I can set one via:

Settings - Profiles - General - Ringing tone

and selecting from the list. However, this only gives me the Nokia provided ringing tones.

I have failed to set any sound direct from sound file, even when my phone was new with few new applications installed.

Settings - Profiles - General - Ringing tone - More

Navigate to any sound clip (even the one already selected as ringing tone)

Select it

I get a yellow box message:

Profile
Device storage full.
Remove data to free memory.

A reboot does not help.

Output of df and free follow.

Any ideas? I've seen other posts mentioning problems with the same yellow box, but not in relation to the ringtone, and I don't get the yellow box for anything else.

Thanks!

Interesting. I believe when you choose a new ringtone, it gets converted into wav format and saved into a particular folder, so it sounds like that process isn't working for you. I can't see a bug about this on http://bugs.maemo.org/, so feel free to file a bug there.
