I am starting to realise the power of this phone that's not a phone!, is there a good bluetooth keyboard and mouse (pref combined) that work well with the N900?

Cheers

I'd be especially interested in a Bluetooth keyboard that can trigger the shutter on the camera.

Most bluetooth keyboard should work with this. I've got an N800, but it should have similar support for bluetooth keyboards. I've got a nice iGo one that I picked up a few years ago. I'd suggest looking them up.

It works pretty well and can trigger certain shortcuts. Not sure if they cut that out in Fremantle (broken in fremantle... I like it).

As for a mouse, I'm pretty doubtful they've added support for that. I remember seeing a mod a while back which allowed you to use a mouse with the tablet, but it didn't work too well and is kind of pointless.

I'd just stick with the touch screen. But really, most bluetooth keyboards work pretty well.

I remember seeing a couple other threads on this earlier, but I'm not going to put a lot of effort into finding them.

Hope this helps.

Edit: It turns out that it actually isn't officially supported on the N900. Ouch. this should help out a bit though.

I think a wireless mouse/keyboad wpuld be useful in some situations as well! Maybe even infrared, since N900 supports that too? Or is that just send and d\not receive? But anyway, +1 for bluetooth mouse/keyboard support.

Just thought I'm mention, the best Bluetooth keyboard I've ever seen is the Dell Bluetooth Multimedia keyboard. Hard to find but they JUST WORK and they're affordable. Their bluetooth mouse is also excellent. On my gaming desktop at home I have a Rocketfish BT keyboard, it's pretty nice but I need to tap the Connect button at the login screen at startup, It seems to go into "sleep mode" after the PC's been off for a while. Also the multimedia buttons on the mouse require special drivers in Windows (you can get them to work in Linux with some tweaking). The Rocketfish keyboard is more versatile than the Dell but not as convenient.

Like fillip mentioned, bluetooth keyboards are not officially supported. You can enable the support for bluetooth keyboards by following the instructions at http://wiki.maemo.org/Fremantle_Unsu...tooth_profiles.

However, the keyboard layout uses the layout of the N900 build-in keyboard (e.g., you have to press 'shift + q' to type '1'). This makes it very annoying to use bluetooth keyboards. As far as I understand, this is because N900 is missing some layout files currently.

There is still hope that the layout support will get better some time in the future. Please vote here if you are interested in using bluetooth keyboards with N900: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6685
